CrowdStack vs Intercom

Intercom is a messenger-first support tool that prices its AI by the resolution. CrowdStack is an email-first help desk with a CRM and a revenue dashboard for one flat price. Here is how they line up, including where Intercom still wins.

Why teams pick CrowdStack

One price you can forecast

Intercom's bill moves with resolutions, messages and add-ons. CrowdStack is £28 a user a month with every product on it, and the only meter is AI credits, 500 of which come with each seat.

SLAs and automations on every seat

Intercom keeps SLAs for its Expert tier and its automation builder for Advanced. CrowdStack has SLA tracking, automations, macros and multiple views in the one plan.

A CRM, not just a contact list

Intercom stores people and companies but has no deals or pipeline. CrowdStack puts contacts, companies, deals and tasks beside the inbox, so sales and support share one record.

Know what a customer is worth

Connect Stripe and the plan, MRR and churn risk show on the ticket sidebar. On Intercom that means syncing custom attributes from another tool.

Where Intercom is the better choice

We would rather you pick the right tool than pick us. Stay on Intercom if your support lives in an in-app messenger or live chat, you want product tours and proactive messages, you need WhatsApp or phone, or you rely on the Slack integration and app marketplace. CrowdStack is for teams whose support arrives by email and a help centre, who want the CRM and the revenue numbers beside the inbox, and who want a bill they can predict.

What is included

Common questions

Is CrowdStack an Intercom alternative?

For email and help centre support, yes. CrowdStack has the shared inbox, SLAs, macros, automations, knowledge base, CSAT and knowledge-grounded AI replies, and adds a CRM, Stripe revenue, issues, a feedback board and a wiki. It does not have a live chat messenger, product tours or messaging channels.

How does the price compare for a team of five?

Five users on CrowdStack cost £140 a month at the full rate, with every product and 2500 pooled AI credits included. Five seats on Intercom Essential list at $195 a month, or $695 on Expert, the first tier with SLAs, before Fin at $0.99 per resolution and Copilot at $35 a seat.

Can I import my data from Intercom?

People and companies import from an Intercom CSV export as contacts and companies, with custom attributes mapped to custom fields. Email us at support@crowdstack.org before you switch and we will walk through the mapping, and talk through what to do with conversation history.

What does Intercom have that CrowdStack does not?

Live chat and an in-app messenger, product tours and proactive messaging, WhatsApp, SMS and phone, a Slack integration and a large app marketplace. If your customers expect to chat with you inside your product, Intercom is the better fit today.
